Hello! My name is Kyle and I’ve owned a mustache since the summer of 2010. If you’re reading this blog in near real time, this fact may not seem impressive, but I plan to wow my grandkids in 30 years.
I learned to ride a motorcycle in high school on my mom’s 1985 CB450 Nighthawk. I bought my first motorcycle during grad-school, a 1998 Honda VFR800, on July 6, 2013. Since then I’ve ridden 38,000 miles and completed two Iron Butt rides. Sometime in 2015 I learned about the Trans-America Trail and started planning a post-graduation trip. First, I had to learn how to ride on dirt. Then I needed a dual-sport motorcycle and luggage. And, of course, I needed to graduate.
I graduated with a doctorate of philosophy in mechanical engineering on May 5, 2017 and it’s time to hit the road.
The only other thing you need to know about me is that the only things I like more than pickles are motorcycles and mountains. Oh, and whiskey. Motorcycles, mountains, whiskey, and hockey. Well, pickles are in there somewhere.
